Documentary Director

PAUL BURGER

Paul Burger is an Emmy Award-winning producer and director whose 25-year career spans the worlds of feature films, high-end commercials, acclaimed documentary series, and cinematic nonfiction features. With a sharp eye for story and a fearless commitment to access, Paul has built a body of work that is as emotionally resonant as it is globally expansive.

Most recently, he produced Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller for National Geographic—an ambitious, multi-season series that took him deep inside some of the world’s most dangerous black markets. His work has brought him to the frontlines of conflict, crisis, and culture across Lebanon, Jordan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Nepal, South Africa, Mali, Kenya, and Uganda.

Paul is currently in post-production on two feature documentaries: one chronicling the dramatic rescue of three chimpanzees from war-torn Central African Republic, and another following a record-breaking wingsuit BASE jump attempt off Mount Lhotse in the Himalayas.

He is also developing a scripted feature and a slate of unscripted projects in collaboration with a diverse roster of award-winning filmmakers, journalists, and creatives.

Driven by a deep curiosity about the human condition and a passion for cinematic storytelling, Paul continues to push boundaries in both form and content—bringing urgent, unexpected, and deeply human stories to screens around the world.
